Editorial policy

Western News Analysis aims to make public accounts easier to assess by being clear about evidence, uncertainty and editorial choices. Readers should be able to tell what a piece says, what supports it and where its limits lie.

Accuracy and sources

We check names, dates, quotations and factual claims against appropriate material before publication. When a piece relies on a source or document, it should describe that basis clearly enough for readers to understand what it can establish and what it cannot. We do not present an inference as a verified fact.

Independence

Editorial decisions are made for reader interest and relevance, not to secure a preferred conclusion. A contribution or commercial relationship does not buy favourable treatment, and we do not promise coverage in exchange for support.

Corrections

If you believe a published passage is wrong or materially unclear, contact the desk with the article subject and the specific point. We review correction requests and, when a change is warranted, amend the text and identify the correction in context where appropriate.

Partner material and illustrations

Paid placements and partner material are identified so readers can distinguish them from independent editorial work. Some illustrations may be AI-generated; such imagery is not presented as documentary evidence or as a photograph of a real event.
